Careers Education C.V. Writing

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.

Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:

  1. How to write one
      2. What you have to write on one
3. What skills I have that I can write on my Curriculum Vitae

Showing Leadership #8

This week I contributed to the school because some junior classes wanted some help scanning some books for there class so me and Charlotte volunteered because the other librarians were either on holiday or at the cross country competition, so at 1:30 straight after lunch we go to the library and help the juniors, sometimes it can be frustrating because when you ask them if they want to return the book or get it out you can't hear them, I have shown the CARE values Excellence and Community, I have also shown the leadership trait Active-Thinking because I could see that they needed some help so I volunteered.

Showing Leadership #5

This week I have shown leadership at lunch time after we had been to the library to return some books,  me and my friend went to see if jump jam was on but when we went we saw that there was hardly anyone there so we decided to join in, when we managed to get a pozi to give to our house colour mine is Rata and my friend is Rata, when we were there, there was some people being silly and they were screaming and shouting so they were asked to leave by the PAL that was running the jump jam and Mrs Martin, I have shown the CARE values Community and Respect because I was respecting the PAL and Mrs Martin because I wasn't screaming or shouting, I have also shown the leadership trait Active thinking because we saw that there wasn't that many people doing it so we joined in.

Key Leadership #5

This week in the library me and my partner put the books back on the shelves then we went to scan the books but before we did Mrs Ward told us that we had to be careful because she has just got a brand new scanner, so we had to keep it on it's stand unless we were using it. After the library had closed Mrs Ward had to go help in the office because the lady that was normally there wasn't, while she was there we were aloud to stay in the library, I have shown the CARE values Excellence and Active Thinking, the leadership trait I have shown was Trustworthy because Mrs Ward trusted us enough to leave us in there by ourselves.

Connectives and adverbial clauses

I can make links across texts by recognising connectives or adverbial clauses

In this unit learnt about connectives and adverbial clauses

Connectives are words that are used to join sentences together.

An adverbial clause gives us additional information about e.g. the time, place, or action which is described in the rest of the sentence.

Square numbers to 100 and their matching square roots

In Maths we have been learning : Square numbers to 100 and their matching square roots.
This is part of our Number Knowledge.
It is important to just know these as we can use this knowledge in other areas of maths.

Here are the IXL screenshots that show evidence of my learning.

Here is an image of my Square Root Chart that can be found in my Maths book.

My next  step in Maths is : to use this new knowledge to help me solve problems in a variety of other areas of Maths.

Key Leadership Role #3

This week in the library, one of the other student librarians asked me, If we could switch days because she had band practice, so I said sure and we swapped. On Wednesday I went to the Library and put the books away, but it wasn't very busy so I didn't issue many books,  only return them. I also had to close the library ten minutes early because Mrs Ward had to help in the office because one of the office ladys wasn't there that day, I have shown the CARE values Excellence and Community, I also showed the leadership trait trustworthy because the other librarian could trust me that I would swap days with her.

Showing Leadership #3

This week it was the kauri cross country, It was held at westlake park,  we had to run around about 2 1/2 km, I was proud of myself even though I didn't come first, second or third but I did come 4th which I thought was a great effort. I was also glad that I didn't get disqualified because I heard that there was some boys that weren't trying there best and walking.

Showing Leadership #2

A way I have shown leadership in another area of the school is, by picking up some rubbish because  me and my friend didn't see much rubbish in the house colour bins when we looked, so we decided to pick up some rubbish, we ended up picking up around 1 1/2 hand fulls of rubbish, so then we put it into our house colour bins my friend is in miro and I am in Rata, the CARE values that we have shown are Community, We also showed the leadership trait Active Thinking because we saw that not many people were doing the activity so we contributed.

Key Leadership Role #2

This week in the library, me and my partner could not do our duty because Mrs Ward was on a coarse, but it was lucky because one of the junior classes needed some help scanning some books so I volunteered and got to help, I had a little trouble getting into the computer though,  because I had to sign in but someone else was already signed in, but I got it sorted in the end, I have shown the CARE values excellence and active thinking, I also showed the leadership trait resilience because I didn't give up.

Home Learning Challenge #2

Showing Leadership #1

This week I have shown leadership several times around the school. One of those times was during the week I kept forgetting to do my home learning challenge and leadership blogging, so I managed to make some time in the weekend to do it. The home learning challenge that I did was A.10 Explore the cubism painting style, create your own Picasso inspired artwork and do my blog posts of participating fully in my key leadership role and also showing leadership in other areas of the school. I have shown the CARE values Excellence and Active Thinking, I have also shown the leadership trait goal focused because I knew that I had to get something done so I did it.

Key Leadership Role #1

This week I have participated fully in my key leadership role as a librarian. By helping on my my set date (Tuesday) and also later in the week when I could see that Ashley's partner was absent, so I offered to help her. She seemed relieved that she didn't have to do the job on her own, so I helped put the books away and in the second half of lunch it was my turn to scan the books. But we had one problem, we discovered that Annabelle still had her books in her book box, that was a problem because she no longer goes to our school but Mrs Ward said she will call Annabelles mum. I look forward to next Tuesday when I can do it again, I have shown the CARE values Active Thinking and Community, I have also shown the leadership trait Active Thinking because we realised that there was a problem so we found a solution.

Home Learning Challenge #1

A.10 Explore the cubism painting style, create your own Picasso inspired artwork

Cubism is a style of painting that originated with Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso between 1907 and 1914. The Cubist style sought to show the two-dimensional nature of the canvas. Cubist artists fractured their objects into geometric forms and used multiple and contrasting perspectives in a single painting.

Term 1 Book Review

Image result for a hot or cold summer

This is one on my free choice books for the forty book challenge, this is a pick a path story which means you get choices of what you want her to do,  it's about a girl who has a mum and a dad who are divorced, and it's the school holidays and she gets the choice to go on a holiday with her mum to London, or on a beach holiday with her dad and his girlfriend and her girlfriend child Ellie.  In my opinion this is a really good book, if you want to know more you will have to read the book.

Key Leadership Role #5

The fifth and final way I have shown leadership throughout my key leadership role is by being patient with people. Because some people don't understand that they can only get out a certain amount of books at a time and they can only reserve one book at a time and this means that you have to explain this to them. But that is all part of being a librarian and I can't wait until next Tuesday. I have shown the CARE values Respect and Active Thinking.

Key Leadership Role #4

The fourth way that I have proved to have participated fully in my key leadership role as a student librarian is by solving an over crowding problem. One day there were too many people in the library this was because some students had closed the door and were not letting anyone in and saying that if they did go out they wouldn't be allowed back in. We solved the problem by asking the person to stop and explained that it wasn't their job to do that. I have shown the CARE values and I am looking forward to doing it again next week.

Key Leadership Role #3

This week I have participated fully in my key leadership role as Librarian by firstly not always wanting to be on the computer the whole time during my scheduled day scanning the books. This way the other librarian can gain experience at this duty also. Secondly I have enjoyed helping people work the computers by showing them how to reserve their own books, so now at least 3 more people know how to reserve their own books. I am happy with the way I have participated fully in my key leadership role in the library.

To not ask the teacher each question if I’m not sure if what I’ve done is correct just be more confident and only ask if I’m stuck.
