Key Leadership Role #1

A way I have participated fully in my key leadership role is by not just helping in the library on my set day, one monday I was in the library and saw that there were a lot of books that needed to be put back onto the shelves and so I offered to help Mrs Ward and Mrs Griffiths put them back. They seemed like they really appreciated me helping them when I was putting the books away and I also made sure that I put them in the correct place, I have shown the CARE value Excellence.

Showing Leadership #5

Another way I have Shown leadership is during a wet day morning tea / Lunch. People were being a bit silly loud and throwing glue sticks around when I was trying to read my book, but instead of getting really angry and annoyed I decided to be self aware and move to a more quiet spot. There I finished my book and completed a can do for SML. I have demonstrated the CARE value Active Thinking.

Showing Leadership #4

Another way I have shown leadership is sometimes Mr Muller will ask for some help setting up the hall for assembly, so I always volunteer. When we are setting up the hall we have to un stack the chairs for family, friends, seniors, teachers and any presenters. We also have to open some windows. The CARE values I have shown in doing this are Excellence and Active Thinking.

Showing Leadership #3

Another thing I think I have shown leadership in is joining the school choir because you do not have to join it is optional last year Mr M choir didn't seem like many students were going to the elderly people's home so me and Charlotte asked if we could go  so we went to the old people's home and sang some christmas songs. While I am at choir I think I join in with the songs and what we are doing and I always make sure that I remember to go each Friday I think I have shown the CARE values Active thinking and Excellence.

Showing Leadership #2

Showing Leadership around the school

I strongly think I have shown Leadership with the way I communicate and interact with my buddy program children, as I get involved with my two little buddies Emma and Ester outside of the set time that we have to spend with them. I  went to say hello to them at lunchtime Ester taught me how to do the monkey bars and Emma showed me how she can go up and down the yellow bar that you climb up then slide down, that was pretty cool I have shown the CARE values Community and Excellence.

Showing Leadership #1

Showing Leadership around the school

Being a good role model and helping out around the school. Today at lunchtime I saw that not very many people were picking up rubbish and putting it into their house colour bin. So my friend and I decided to pick up some rubbish lying around the school grounds, we managed to pick up a couple of handfuls of rubbish and had impressed the duty teacher in that area. So as well as helping our house with the rubbish we also got a pozi, we have shown the CARE values Active Thinking and Community, as we helped to keep the area tidy for everyone.

Home Learning Challenge E2

E2. Research another country, compare it to N.Z. Present the similarities and the differences.

Egypt      &        New Zealand

What I had to do was choose a country which was Egypt and compare its similarities and differences to New Zealand.

                         Similarities

  • Both have strong tourism
  • Both gained independence from Britain
  • Both use hydro electric power
  • Both have participated in the summer Olympics since the start of the 20th century
  • the first Egyptian to climb Mt Everest (in 2007) followed the exact same route as Sir Edmund Hillary
                        Differences

  • In Egypt they earn 78.29% less money
  • They use 84.79% less electricity
  • Different languages
  • Egypt has a lower employment rate then NZ
  • Egypt has a way higher population
  • In Egypt they start primary school when they are six and we start primary school at 5

Leadership Writing

In writing I have been learning to:
  • use all basic punctuation independently
  • attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses)

I have been especially focusing on using parentheses and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this.

Leadership Writing
What make a good Librarian

Leadership is a skill of being able to motivate people/ teams to work towards a goal. There are 6 traits of an effective leader Integrity, Resilience, Goal focused, Active thinking and motivational. My key leadership role for 2017 is a Librarian. This means that every Tuesday  lunch times I go with my buddy Charlotte and take care of the library. In order to be a good Librarian I need to show the effective leadership traits in my role.

One of the leadership traits of an effective leader is being Trustworthy being Trustworthy means you can be relied on to do what is needed or right. My three teachers in the ⅞ hub have shown trustworthy because If someone got something wrong, they wouldn’t go ha ha ha ha they would just say politely no but nice try. I know I too can be trustworthy in my leadership role this year. Being trustworthy is an extremely important trait for a librarian because Mrs Ward is relying on me and my buddy to make sure that no one, walks out or away with a book because I have seen little junior's do that before so I need to make sure that I am being self aware and go to find them. As well as being trustworthy I know it is as important that I am Goal focused.

Being an Goal Focused is a key effective leadership trait. It means that if you set a goal you will achieve it. There are many leaders that have shown active thinking in their roles one of these leaders is Sir Edmund Hillary. He has shown goal focused because when he set a goal (that was climbing to the top of Mt Everest) and then he achieved his goal. I believe that I can be goal focused like like Sir Edmund Hillary. I will make sure I am doing this because if someone is disrespecting the library I will do something about it not just sit there and watch. Goal Focused is definitely a very important part of my leadership role, as is showing Active Thinking.

Another effective leadership trait is being an Active Thinker. It’s meaning is that the leader is able to solve problems and think when things don’t go according to plan. There are many leaders that have shown active thinking in their roles one of these leaders is Bill Gates. When Bill gates looked at any situation he developed a profile of all possible cases and looked at them in detail, he would ask himself questions about the possibilities that could happen. In My role I want to be an active thinker like Bill Gates. By If someone asks me if there are any new good books I will be an active thinker and choose an appropriate book that he/she might like.

In order to be a good Librarian, I need to demonstrate effective leadership traits and work hard to do these well. I need to be goal focused, an active thinker and most importantly, be trustworthy. I will show up to my duty on time and make sure that I am doing my job correctly
and if I’m not sure where some books go I won’t just dump them anywhere. If I show all of these traits am most definitely going to be a good Librarian who is an effective leader.

Games with minimal or no equipment

In P.E we have been participating in a variety of games that require little or no equipment.
Below is the Matrix which shows our progression in this unit of learning.

Screen Shot 2017-03-12 at 12.32.06 PM.png

The table below shows my understanding of games with minimal or no equipment.

Examples of Games that need minimal or no equipment.
What equipment would we usually need to play these games.
Why do we play games with minimal or no equipment?
  • Tricky Tag
  • Line Tag
  • Chain Tag
  • Octopus
  • Invisible touch
  • Captains Coming
  • Sneak up granny
  • Duck duck goose
  • Bibs
  • Cones
  • If you don't have any equipment
  • If you don't want to go get the equipment or put it back
  • If you don't have access to the sports shed

My Strengths.
Some things that I have done well during this unit of learning are coming up with minimal or no equipment Games because you need to know what you need for the game.

My Next Steps.
Some things I could improve on when playing games with minimal or no equipment are Trying my best  Because sometimes I know I could of tried harder.
